Artists statement
Moments of inspiration are often brief and fleeting, I see a painting all around me. The imense satisfaction of watching a sky transform from light to dark, the ever changing light on the sea and the stunning landscape all around us. My paintings are often built in layers to accentuate tonal depth. I may sketch on site and use these quick marks to translate onto canvas in abstract form. I’ll play with perspective and often use a multiple viewpoint. I paint with an unpredictable freedom, following my internal guidance and feelings. The process fills me with overwhealming excitement and passion. I don’t always seek to convey an underlying message but aim to allow the viewer to discover their own connection and interpretation of my work.
